This is awarded through an audience ballot on the night of the final concert, to one of the three finalists.
As well as its cash prizes, the Leeds Conductors Competition is unique in offering the winner a platform from
which to launch a professional career, through a series of immensely prestigious engagements with the country's
leading orchestras.
Concert engagements with the following orchestras have been agreed in principle for the 2009 competition winner,
subject to final negotiation:
